Painting

Abstract painting that does not depict nature, but rather what remains of it in our perception: a stream, a garden, a glow. Each work bears a title in Japanese—a single word that expresses what the color evokes.

These paintings came into being at the same time as my photographic series. It is the same perspective expressed through a different medium: where the camera layers exposures, the brush layers paint.
